SANIMED Anti-Struvite Dog

Part of the recovery of patients suffering from struvite urolithiasis is providing a suitable diet that helps dissolve existing struvite crystals and stones and inhibits the recurrence of struvite formation. The purpose of the diet is to change the composition of the urine so its pH becomes lower than 6.5 and to decrease the concentrations of struvite components. SANIMED Anti-Struvite induces an average urinary pH of 6.1. This urine pH value will help to reduce the formation of struvite as well as further dissolve the struvite that may already be present. Additionally, SANIMED Anti-Struvite has a low level of magnesium, phosphorus and protein content that will help support lower urine concentrations of magnesium, ammonium and phosphate.

Struvite is the formation of crystals that consist of magnesium, ammonium and phosphate in the urinary bladder. When these crystals clump together they can form bladder stones. Bladder stones are very painful and can be life-threatening in case of a urinary blockage. There are various types of crystals and bladder stones. Struvite is the most common type and affects dogs as well as cats.
