Alpha-Stop is the introduction of a starch blocker which effectively blocks the digestion of starch and thus the absorption of starch calories into the body. Starch blockers were originally developed in the 1970’s and 1980’s as a natural way to block the digestive enzyme alpha-amylase which converts starch into simple sugars. Without the action of alpha-amylase, starch is prevented from breaking down into sugar and thus cannot be absorbed into the body.
The action of starch blockers was first developed using an animal model and several studies have been done on the mechanism of action and effectiveness in canines.
The main component of Alpha-Stop is made up of a white bean extract which has been used in a variety of ways including weight loss in humans. Studies have shown that the extract prevents the alpha-amylase enzyme breaking carbohydrate into glucose.
Alpha-Stop is no ordinary treat. It has been specifically created to help owners of overweight dogs act in reducing their pets overall weight. It can be used in conjunction with the pet’s current pet food or with a specific weight reduction food. Offered fifteen minutes before each meal Alpha-Stop may also break the habit of impulse treating which can lead to additional weight gain and potentially fatal clinical conditions.
Offered as a highly palatable chew the product packaging contains roughly enough product to last an average pet owner 2 months and costs around .38p per day for a dog weighing less than 22.5kg.
